El Dorado Capital Advisors is a Montreal-based advisory and asset management boutique firm specializing in emerging Latin American real estate markets, with a primary focus on Colombia.
aPPROACH
Our service is aimed at providing advisory and asset management services to institutional investors looking to diversify into Latin American real estate with a primary focus on Colombia. We align this capital with best-in-class projects and local partners and arrange institutional grade governance.
Our first platform investment in Colombia was made in 2008 and since then we arranged one of the largest portfolios of foreign institutional real estate in the country. We leverage our regional expertise and extensive network to identify opportunities that best shape our clients’ portfolio and investment objectives.

Once a platform has been established, we lever our market presence and know-how to offer opportunistic workout, repositioning and M&A advisory services to lenders, corporate real estate holders and real estate funds. Some of these may become pipeline opportunities for our investors while others may serve to strengthen relationships with local partners.
History
2008
Gilles Massé, a seasoned Montreal-based real estate professional, sought out emerging real estate markets and identified Colombia and Vietnam as potential targets. Armed with an expression of interest from a Canadian pension fund, he sought out local operating partners in these countries who saw a benefit in collaborating with an international institutional investor.
2009
A partnership was formed with Colombia’s largest bank and largest financial services institution to create one of the country’s first income-producing real estate funds, which today has US$1.1bn AUM.
2010
The first investment in a residential development was made with one of Colombia’s top residential real estate developers. Since then, more than 15,000 for sale units have been developed by the joint venture in the country.
2011
A partnership with a retail shopping center development company was formed, adding 110,000 m2 to the portfolio.
2012
El Dorado Capital Advisors initiated a venture between one of the world’s largest hotel operators and an important North American pension fund to be financial development partners in Latin America. It was later decided to pivot away from hospitality and focus on residential, office and retail asset classes In Colombia.
2013

Present
El Dorado Capital Advisors asset managed initial investments and arranged follow on investments for each of the platforms. Some of these investments have been completed or subsequently acquired by our local partners
To date, we arranged investments with a development value of US$2.3bn, one of the largest foreign institutional real estate co-investments in Colombia.
